Nucleus chair passes away

The chairman of Nucleus and founder of Skandia Life has passed away following a cardiac arrest.

Paul Bradshaw served as chairman of the Nucleus platform for more than a decade.

As well as being one of the founders of Skandia Life, he helped establish St James's Place.

Mr Bradshaw also previously worked as chief executive of Abbey National’s Insurance and Asset Management arm, and held board positions at Sanlam and the River and Mercantile group.

David Ferguson, the chief executive of Nucleus, said Mr Bradshaw had helped the platform grow since its launch in 2006.

“Right from our very beginning, Paul has been a massive inspiration and a huge part of the Nucleus journey,” he said.

He described Mr Bradshaw as a man of “enormous intellect, great passion and with an insatiable hunger for what comes next”.

The platform boss added: “Nucleus, the other companies he was involved in and the wider industry, are lessened by his passing but we will work harder than ever to ensure his legacy here is a positive one.”

Jonathan Polin, chief executive of Sanlam financial services group, said: "Throughout Paul’s long and distinguished career, he was consistently ahead of his time in his thinking and execution."

"His passion for the industry and advice was boundless. He guided us, supported us, challenged us and led us to make the right decisions."

Mr Polin added: "His contribution to Sanlam was invaluable and his presence will be sorely missed by all.”
