Carmignac promotes tech manager to head of equities

Carmignac has promoted fund manager David Older to a newly created role as head of equities.

Mr Older, who joined the company as a senior fund manager in 2015, will now be tasked with "evaluating and optimising" equity portfolio performance in terms of alpha generation.

Equity managers and analysts at the firm will report to him.

As a fund manager, Mr Older focused on specialist sectors such as technology and communications.

Edouard Carmignac, the firm's founder, said: "David has provided us with significant global expertise in communications, information technology, media and internet stocks, with considerable experience in alpha generation and long-short management.

"He has helped us generate performance under various market conditions and has enhanced our risk management expertise."

Meanwhile Christophe Peronin, who joined Carmignac in 2010, is promoted to deputy general manager, working alongside general manager Eric Helderlé.

He remains in charge of the operations department.

In his new role, he also assists Mr Helderlé in leading the company's strategic development committee.
