Sanlam fund is now managed by AI

Sanlam’s Managed Risk (SMR) Ucits fund is now completely managed by artificial intelligence.

The SMR Ucits fund was previously managed by a systematic investment process.

It is now managed by an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) investment engine.

It can be used to enhance a managers current investment process by providing timely asset and stock allocation based on parameters picked by the investment manager.

Alternatively, it offers total automation of the investment process, which sees the artificial intelligence program identify the most appropriate allocation based on a set of pre-defined objectives, limitations and investment options.

Owen Wintersgill, director at Axxis Financial Planning, said: “I think the blurring of the active and the passive won’t cut much ice with clients, as they tend to want one approach or the other, complete-automation or some input from a professional, and explaining the difference to a layman could be tough."
