Investec poaches Threadneedle UK small cap manager

Investec Asset Management has hired Columbia Threadneedle small and mid-cap manager Matt Evans to join its UK 'quality team' later this year.

Mr Evans, who works on Columbia Threadneedle's £232m UK Smaller Companies, £111m UK Mid 250 and £26m Ethical UK Equity funds, is to join the Investec team led by Simon Brazier and Clyde Roussouw after the summer.

On joining Investec, Mr Evans is set to manage the £330m Investec UK Smaller Companies fund.

David Aird, managing director, UK client group at Investec, said: "Positioning his expertise within the Investec quality team alongside our UK Alpha and UK Equity Income Funds provides our clients with a compelling choice of UK equity-centric funds that further deepens our capability in this area.

"We are well positioned to meet the requirements of our adviser and wealth management clients, responding to increasing demand for unconstrained highly active UK equity funds, which aim to offer investors more consistency in today’s uncertain markets."

Mr Brazier and fellow manager Blake Hutchins left Threadneedle to join Investec in 2014, with the latter more recently expanding the onshore range run by the duo.

Mr Evans joined Threadneedle in 2013 before which he was a UK small cap manager for Legal & General Investment Management.
