River and Mercantile brings in EM team

Credit Suisse emerging market managers Al Bryant and Todd Leigh are to join equity boutique River and Mercantile at the end of June.

As part of a "cooperation agreement" between the two firms, Mr Bryant and Mr Leigh, together with their emerging markets industrial life cycle (ILC) team, will join River and Mercantile.

The team, which currently runs some $360m (£282.5m) of assets, will take the Credit Suisse (Lux) Global Emerging Market ILC Equity fund, as well as the Credit Suisse (Lux) Global Small and Mid Cap Emerging Market ILC Equity product, across.

These will be rebranded with the River and Mercantile name, subject to regulatory approval.

Mike Faulkner, chief executive at River and Mercantile, said: “They add significant expertise in equity emerging markets that will allow us to broaden the global equity-based solutions we are able to offer our clients.”

Much of the range at River and Mercantile, including an equity income fund and the £141m UK Equity Long Term Recovery vehicle, is currently focused on the UK.
