Ex-Henderson CEO Yates joins Jupiter board

Jupiter Fund Management plans to appoint former Henderson and Pioneer chief executive Roger Yates as a non-executive director, subject to FCA approval.

The industry veteran started his career as a portfolio manager, rising to become chief investment officer of Morgan Grenfell and then of LGT/Invesco in the 1990s, before being appointed chief executive of Henderson Group in 1999.

He became chief executive of Pioneer in 2010, and left in 2017 when that company merged with Amundi.

Mr Yates has been a non-executive director on the boards of businesses as diverse as IG Group, F&C Asset Management and Electra Private Equity.

Liz Airey, chairman of Jupiter, said: "Jupiter will benefit greatly from Roger's broad industry experience, particularly that gained as CEO of a UK listed asset manager and as a non-executive director of a number of UK financial services companies.

"We look forward to the perspective and insight he will bring to our board discussions as we seek to build on our successful growth strategy."

Mr Yates said: "Jupiter has a reputation for delivering consistent investment outperformance and impressive sales growth.  I look forward to helping the Board and executive team achieve Jupiter's strategic objectives."

As of 31 December 2016, Jupiter had assets under management (AUM) of £46.9bn.
