Ex-M&G manager Odd joins Fairstone

Former income manager at M&G, Alex Odd, has joined advice firm Fairstone as portfolio manager.

Mr Odd (pictured) will take joint ownership of the firm's portfolio management alongside Oliver Stone, who was promoted to manager from his previous role of head of research.

The pair will take on the combined responsibilities from 1 December as current investment strategy officer Mark Woods leaves to lead his Watermark Wealth Management business, which is due to be acquired by Fairstone next year.

Mr Odd spent eight years at M&G before leaving to set up his own firm Odd Asset Management in November 2014, according to his Linkedin profile.

Before joining M&G in 2005 he was assistant fund manager at Jupiter for eight years.

Mr Odd managed in excess of £2bn in client assets and was one of the few income managers to grow investors’ income over the global financial crisis, Fairstone said.

The firm’s chief executive Lee Hartley said: "We are delighted to welcome Alex to the team, I have no doubt that his experience of successfully managing assets for some of the UK’s leading fund houses will be of great benefit to Fairstone and can only strengthen our proposition."

Mr Stone spent the past five years managing research at Fairstone.

He also sits on the firm’s investment and asset allocation committees.

Mr Hartley said: "Oliver has been an integral part of our investment management team for some time now and it is great to see his commitment to the firm recognised with this promotion.

"I would also like thank Mark Woods, who conceptualised and launched our range of model portfolios in 2008, for his contribution to Fairstone over the past six years."
