Interactive Investor has appointed former Hargreaves Lansdown head of equities Richard Hunter as its new head of markets.

Mr Hunter was employed at Hargreaves Lansdown for 11 years until February 2016, before joining Wilson King Investment Management, a wealth manager, as head of research.

Commenting on Mr Hunter's appointment, Alex Kovach, chief commercial officer of Interactive Investor, said: "We are delighted to welcome Richard, one of the UK's leading market commentators, to Interactive Investor.

"His deep understanding of the investment sphere and his incisive and informative views will be of great benefit to the company and our customers as we embark on the next stage of our journey as an enlarged business."
