Artemis' Turpin replaced by Berens after 30 years

Artemis has appointed Jasper Berens as head of distribution to take over from Dick Turpin, who is retiring following a 30-year career, including the last 16 in that role.

Mark Murray, Artemis’ senior partner said: "Dick Turpin’s contributions both to Artemis and to our industry have been enormous. Dick has been integral to helping build Artemis into the firm it is today.

"We wish him a very long and happy retirement, after almost 30 years in fund management.

"We are delighted to have been able to recruit someone of Jasper’s standing and ability. We are all looking forward to working with him over the years ahead as we continue to concentrate on meeting our clients’ needs."

Mr Berens spent 20 years at JP Morgan Asset Management, latterly as head of the UK funds business, before leaving in March 2018.

His departure coincided with a wave of other exits from JP Morgan, including that of Talib Sheikh, a fund manager who joined Jupiter.

Artemis, which was founded in 1997, currently manages £28.2bn of assets.
