Standard Life Wealth manager heads to DFM

Jem Turrell has departed his role at Standard Life Wealth and joined discretionary fund management business Thesis as a director in the firm's Guildford office.

Mr Turrell was a senior client portfolio manager at Standard Life Wealth for five years until this month, when he made the move to Thesis.

Prior to that he had worked at Towry and Lloyds Private Bank.

He is a former member of the armed forces.

Mr Turrell will be responsible for the management of about £120m client assets in the Guildford office.

Thesis recently launched a Managed Income Service aimed at advisers looking for a solution for clients entering the decumulation phase.

Lawrence Cook, director of marketing and business development at Thesis, said: "Jem's experience in the wealth management sector is going to be a real asset for the business going forward.

"He joins at what is an exciting time for Thesis and we believe he has the skillset to help the business continue on its growth trajectory.

"We are delighted someone of this calibre is joining the business and I am sure he will do a great job with the team at the Guildford office."

Alan Steel, an adviser with Alan Steel Asset Management in Linlithgow, said the recent wave of exits from Aberdeen Standard Investments shows that "bigger isn't always better" in asset management.
