Walsh joins Schroders as personal finance director

Investment manager Schroders has appointed Claire Walsh to the role of personal finance director.

Ms Walsh was previously a financial adviser at Aspect8 in Brighton, and prior to that at Pavillion Financial Services.

Ms Walsh has joined Schroders for the newly created role, which will involve work in communications, business development and public affairs.

The Aspect8 advice firm is owned by Benchmark Capital, a business in which Schroders has a 65 per cent stake.

The various benchmark capital businesses contributed £700m of inflows into the Schroders group in the first half of 2018, that sum is larger than the total of inflows into the wealth management division of Schroders in the same period of the previous year.

But James Rainbow, co-head of the intermediary business at Schroders said advisers at Aspect8 are independent, not in any way tied to the asset manager.

James Cardew, global head of marketing at Schroders said: "Claire has impressive knowledge and experience of personal finance investing from individual pension plans through to Isas.

"This deep understanding of both investments and of the fast moving marketplace means that she will be critical in helping our clients navigate the complex issues facing investors."
