FT to hold first Wealth Management Summit

The Financial Times is to host its inaugural Wealth Management Summit in London on 7 November – a day of debates, interviews, discussions for wealth managers, private banks, family offices and others.

The stakes have rarely been higher for such firms. Shock geopolitical events have upped the ante for both clients and wealth managers as the latter contend with a series of changes within their own industry.

The rise of passive investing has left many reconsidering their investment strategies, increased competition has spurred merger and acquisition activity, and regulations such as Mifid II have the potential to shake up clients’ perception of how their money is managed.

All this at a time when a number of asset classes look fully valued and many fear the return of market volatility.

Speakers at the event include Andrew Ross, global head of wealth management at Schroders, Alan Higgins, chief investment officer UK at Coutts, and Caroline Burkart of consultancy Scorpio Partnership. They will discuss the issues above and other topics, including the digitisation of wealth management, succession planning strategies and how to cater to the next generation, burgeoning investment themes such as sustainable investing, and, of course, Brexit.

Held at the Sheraton Grand in Park Lane, the event will be run in association with Money Management and sister titles Private Wealth Management, The Banker, FTAdviser.com, FT Wealth and FTfm. It will be followed in the evening by the Global Private Banking Awards, the annual event organised by Private Wealth Management.

Attendance is free for senior professionals from private banks, wealth managers, and others, with paying places available to a smaller number of consultancies and professional service firms. Full details can be found at live.ft.com/events/2018/Wealth-Management-Summit.

The event builds upon the success of other FT ‘Summit’ events such as the Investment Management Summit, aimed at asset management professionals. Readers interested in attending the Wealth Management Summit should visit live.ft.com
