Quilter's Porteous leaves after a year

John Porteous, the former Towry man who was appointed as retail client solutions director at Quilter in August 2017, has left the firm.

A statement from a representative of Quilter said: "John joined in 2017 to focus on customer experience and services across Quilter’s end-to-end wealth management solutions.

"Having laid solid foundations and established the retail customer solutions function, John has now left to seek new challenges.

"We would like to thank John for his contribution and he leaves with our best wishes."

The team which had been headed by Mr Porteus will now report directly to the firm’s chief marketing officer, Michelle Andrews.

Ms Andrews has been chief marketing officer at the firm since 2017, and an employee since 2012. Prior to that, she worked at Skandia in a variety of roles.

Mr Porteous had previously spent two years at Towry, and had been head of wealth management and a partner at Baker Tilley prior to that.

He also worked at Macquarie Bank and BDO Stoy Hayward. He graduated from Edinburgh University.

Quilter is the business formerly known as Old Mutual Wealth, and listed on the London Stock Exchange last year, following a managed separation from parent company Old Mutual.
