Kames appoints high yield bonds chief

Kames Capital has appointed Thomas Hanson as head of high yield bonds.

Mr Hanson moved to Kames from his role as portfolio manager at Janus Henderson, where he jointly ran the Euro High Yield and Janus Henderson Global High Yield Bond funds.

Prior to working at Janus Henderson Mr Hanson was employed by Aerion Fund Management and Lazard Asset Management.

In his new role he will will become co-manager with Mark Benbow on the Kames High Yield Bond, Kames High Yield Global Bond, and Kames Short Dated High Yield Bond funds.

Mr Hanson replaces Jack Holmes who left the business. Mr Homes had worked as head of high yield bonds for two and a half years.

Adrian Hull, head of fixed income at Kames, said: "Kames has a long history of excellence in the high yield space and this is an ideal opportunity for Thomas to take the next step in his career development and lead the high yield team as we look to strengthen our franchise and to continue to demonstrate this expertise within the sector."

Kames has experienced significant upheaval in its fixed income business in recent years, with former co-heads of the department Phil Milburn and David Roberts departing for Liontrust, while Stephen Snowden, one of those who replaced Mr Milburn and Mr Roberts, left the firm to join Artemis in November 2018, taking three colleagues with him.
