US equities dominate the investment landscape when it comes to global funds, as many of the world's largest companies are American.

But US equities can be seen to be over-valued, making it difficult for investors to find decent returns.

Many of these stocks are in the tech sector, most notably the FANG stocks, based on Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google, but for many people these are expensive shares to own; they hold attraction though because of their long-term prospects.

Interest rates are likely to have an impact this year, as president Trump puts pressure on the Fed to lower interest rates further. LAst year's loose monetary policy helped to create a stock market rally this year - it is unlikley to have the same effect this year.

There are many funds to choose from, and some have done exceptionally well. This guide attempts to illuminate some of the issues relating to investing in US equities.
