Food security has become a pressing issue in the face of several factors coming together at the same time.Â
The war in Ukraine has put pressure on a key part of the supply chain and contributed to rising inflation. Climate change is also having an impact with droughts expected to make food scarcer in the forthcoming harvest, while fertiliser shortage raises fears for food next year.
What impact does this have on investment portfolios?
While these factors may put pressure on big food producers, it creates opportunities for innovation, and there is a lot of expectation for cultivated meat, given the environmental cost of breeding animals for meat.
But innovation and development takes a long time to come to fruition, as does acceptance by consumers to eat this type of food – although such food has been accepted by Singapore for sale.
This report, with 30 minutes' CPD,  aims to look at some of these issues, and address investors' concerns.
