Global financial education community Female Invest has bought a trading platform which it will integrate into its own app.

The company bought Gaia Investments, an app-only trading platform based in Denmark, focused on sustainability.

The acquisition will see Gaia Investments’ chief technology officer, Mads Sverre Willumsen, who built the product, move across to Female Invest.

Female Invest was launched in 2019 to close the gender financial gap, and operates a subscription-based platform which focuses on education around investing and money management.

Female Invest has paying members in 89 countries globally but will initially offer trading to members based in the UK and the EU.

Anna-Sophie Hartvigsen, co-founder of Female Invest, said since starting the company, its members have repeatedly asked for a trading platform.

“We’re as eager as our members to get the trading platform incorporated into the app, but the front-office changes and testing will require patience and we want the final product to be sublime,” she said.

Emma Due Bitz, co-founder of Female Invest, added: “Mads has been a fantastic addition to the team and I know he’ll bring valuable insight when we come to launch the trading platform.

“We’re building the product we wish existed back when we started investing. A trading platform that is easy to navigate and ethically-focused.”
