Teachers unveils Help to Buy deal

Teachers Building Society has launched two new fixed rates, including a new Help to Buy mortgage at 2.59 per cent.

The Help to Buy fixed rate is available up to 75 per cent loan-to-value (LTV) has no arrangement fee and a £99 application fee.

The society also launched a three-year fix up to 95 per cent LTV at 3.99 per cent.

It comes with an arrangement fee of £899 and a £99 application fee.

Both deals are available for purchase and remortgage.

Andy Yates, business development manager at the society, said the mortgages, available to teachers and residents of Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire, are “designed to meet the needs of those seeking the reassurance of a fixed rate” and demonstrate Teachers’ dedication to the first-time buyer market.

Ansar Afsar, managing director of We Know Mortgages Ltd, said: "Despite the low interest rate environment we're currently in many borrowers are still drawn towards the security that fixed rates offer, particularly first time buyers.

"Any products that help those at the higher LTV end of the market should be welcomed."
