Financial planning specialist Key Retirement has partnered with professional body the Society of Mortgage Professionals (SMP) to focus on the equity release market.
In March the two organisations will host a series of free roadshows in Durham, Manchester, Brighton, London, Northern Ireland and Bristol that will focus on trends in the equity release market.
Speakers from Key Retirement and referral business Key Partnerships will discuss how advisers can take advantage of the growing demand from clients who are considering releasing equity from their homes.
Dean Mirfin, technical director at Key Retirement, said advisers need to consider how property can factor into retirement planning for clients.
He said: “The equity release market has broken through the £2bn barrier for the first time and has more than doubled in value in just five years, highlighting how important property wealth now is for retirement planning.
“The Society of Mortgage Professionals roadshows are an ideal platform for advisers to develop their businesses and hear from a wide range of market experts.”
Daniel Bailey, principle at Middleton Finance, said lack of savings and unpaid mortgages in retirement have caused more retirees to consider releasing funds from their home to supplement their pension income.
“Equity release is playing more of a part in a mortgage brokers recommendations for older borrowers so I think the partnership is a positive and natural partnership,” Mr Bailey said.
