Pepper widens distribution network through Solent

Specialist lender Pepper Homeloans has widened its distribution network to include Hampshire-based Solent Mortgage Services.

Solent will market the intermediary-only lender’s full range of residential and buy-to-let mortgage products, which are aimed at clients who experience difficulties obtaining a mortgage via a high street lender.

Rob Barnard, director of sales at Pepper, said: “We’re delighted to be adding SMS to our distribution network and are looking forward to working with them and their brokers over the coming months.”

Ian Balfour, chief executive at Solent Mortgage Services, said: "Pepper has been making a big impact on the specialist lending market and its combination of competitive products, accommodating criteria and personal underwriting rather than credit scoring, make it a compelling proposition for brokers and their clients.”

Stuart Gregory, managing director at Lymington-based Lentune Mortgages, said it was great news that Solent were extending their network by taking on board more advisers.

Mr Gregory said: "It is a good sign that the offering they have put out there has got a market - and that is really positive for the market as a whole.

“It is working well in terms of when they have launched they have launched in the right way and are growing it in stages.

“There is a lot of need for lenders working in mortgage assessments rather than system-related decisions, and that is where they are making big gains.”
