Buckinghamshire offers fee-free first-time buyer range

Buckinghamshire Building Society is offering first-time buyer mortgages with no product fee, for those with a 5 per cent deposit or more

The range includes three-year discount and fixed rate products, with initial rates ranging from 2.99 per cent to 3.99 per cent.

Tim Vigeon, head of lending at Buckinghamshire Building Society, said:  "Getting on the property ladder can be an expensive business and our aim is to reduce some of those expenses by offering no product fee or application fee to all our first time buyers."

Both the three-year fixed and the three-year discounted rate offer £250 cashback.

Jane King, from Ash Ridge Private Finance, said the 2.99 per cent rate was competitive. "However, borrowers should remember that Buckinghamshire Building Society's criteria are quite strict," she said.

"Buyers will have to be squeaky clean with no marks on their credit files."
