Matthew Wyles leaves Castle Trust

Matthew Wyles, managing director of the mortgage division at Castle Trust, is leaving to take up a new position elsewhere, the specialist lender has announced.

A spokesman for the company said that the new position "was still going through regulatory approval, and so it has not been announced yet."

Mr Wyles, a former chairman of the Council of Mortgage Lenders and executive director of group distribution at Nationwide Building Society, had been with Castle Trust since 2014.

He will be replaced by Alex Upton, sales director for mortgages.

"Matthew is doing the handover with Alex at the moment," the spokesman said.

Sean Oldfield, chief executive of Castle Trust, said: "Alex Upton is a rising star within Castle Trust and I am delighted that she has agreed to lead our mortgage business.

"Alex and her excellent team will play a pivotal role in realising our current three-year plan, which will see us significantly grow our balance sheet during 2018 and beyond.

"Despite highly competitive market conditions, we have had a fabulous start to the year and we can look to the future with confidence."

Mr Upton will be succeeded as director of sales by Marcus Dussard, whose most recent role was business development director.

He joined Castle Trust in 2014.

The departure follows that of mortgage marketing head Alex Hammond last month, who left the lender to start up his own business.
