Management trio to leave John Charcol

John Charcol’s chief executive, chairman and chief financial officer are all set to leave the company.

Mark Fleet, who has been John Charcol's chief executive for two years, will leave after the completion of a 24-month ‘change programme’ set-up to establish a new telephony advice centre in Southampton, which now employs 36 mortgage and protection advisers.

Ian Darby will also step down as chairman to focus on his broader investment portfolio and financial advice business Wren Sterling, but will remain a shareholder in John Charcol.

The company’s chief financial officer, Mark Woodall, has also left John Charcol.

Mr Fleet said: "It’s been a privilege to act as custodian for what is still regarded the leading mortgage brokerage in the UK. The team have achieved a huge amount over the past two years and I wish them all the best for the next exciting chapter in Charcol’s long story."

Luke Somerset, John Charcol’s chief commercial officer, said Mr Fleet had been a driving force and catalyst for change here at the broker firm and said he wished him the best in his new venture.

He added: “Much of the hard work has been done and our focus now is on driving growth through our self-employed network and employed adviser teams in London, Southampton and Birmingham.”
