Chatfeild-Roberts to step down from Jupiter board

John Chatfeild-Roberts, the head of Jupiter's Merlin multi-manager team, is to step down as a director at the asset manager.

Mr Chatfeild-Roberts will end his nine-year tenure on the fund firm's board at the end of this month, but will continue to run the multi-manager range alongside the rest of the Merlin team.

He has spent 15 years at the company, including five as chief investment officer, before handing over the CIO role to Stephen Pearson in September 2015.

Mr Chatfeild-Roberts said: "I have greatly enjoyed my time on the board of Jupiter and its predecessor companies, helping in the overall success of the company.

"However, investing clients' money in the Jupiter Merlin funds is the job I enjoy the most; I relish the opportunity to devote all my time to building on the performance track record we have established on behalf of our clients."

The Merlin Balanced and Growth funds, which have a combined £3.7bn in assets, are top quartile in their respective Mixed Investment sectors over three and five years. But the flagship Merlin Income product has struggled again in 2016. The £3.3bn fund is fourth quartile in its sector over three and five years.
