Claire Trott takes top role at Technical Connection

Claire Trott has been appointed head of pensions strategy at consultancy Technical Connection, following her departure from Sipp and Small self-administered scheme specialist Talbot & Muir earlier in the year.

In September this year, Talbot & Muir announced Paul Darvill, director of administration, would absorb the role as head of pensions technical as Ms Trott announced her departure from the firm.

In April this year, St James’s Place acquired support services business Technical Connection for an undisclosed sum.

Technical Connection has been a key supplier of technical resource to St James’s Place since its inception in 1991, and the wealth manager’s bosses claim the deal will strengthen its ability to provide business-focused technical support to partners.

Ms Trott's appointment at Technical Connection has been made to "bolster up the pensions team", she told FTAdviser.

She said: "Since they were bought by SJP earlier in the they were obviously doing a lot of work with them on the more technical side of pensions.

"The role is very much outward facing. Technical Connection are a consultancy and do work for other providers - we answer questions for them and we do some of the technical training with them."

Ms Trott said she would also be working on updates for Technical Connection’s online knowledge management platform, Techlink Professional.

Tony Wickenden, managing director of financial planning hub Technical Connection said: “She brings with her a wealth of expertise and experience which I know will be fully deployed to further enhance the support and development that we provide for the businesses that we serve.

"Her understanding and skill in communicating that understanding and applying it in practice will add even greater depth and utility to Technical Connection’s online knowledge management capability delivered through Techlink Professional, proposition development and pensions and retirement planning consulting .”
