Wealth Wizards hires from Abrdn and Mercer
Abrdn's Ben Hampton and Mercer's Mark Kiddell

Robo-adviser Wealth Wizards has hired former executives from Abrdn and Mercer to head up its product and commercial operations, respectively.

Ben Hampton, who worked across Standard Life and the now-branded Abrdn for nearly 15 years, joins Wealth Wizards as its chief product officer.

At Abrdn, he launched and ran the firm’s digital retirement advice business - an arm which Abrdn is continuing to grow in Hampton’s absence.

At Wealth Wizards, Hampton will look after advice and guidance products, as well as the workplace-focused digital IFA, MyEva.

Mark Kiddell, Wealth Wizard’s incoming chief commercial officer, has joined from Mercer where he oversaw the firm's growth alongside operations.

He also spent years at then-named Standard Life, as well as Hargreaves Lansdown.

At Wealth Wizards, Kiddell will oversee the go-to-market teams across both MyEva and Turo, the robo-adviser’s automated financial advice service.

“The addition of both Mark and Ben is incredibly exciting as we build on the growth of the business, since our acquisition by Royal London last year,” said Andrew Firth, founder and chief executive of Wealth Wizards.

Royal London acquired the robo-advice business from Liverpool Victoria back in March 2021.

The deal saw it buy Wealth Wizards’ digital platform for advisers, its guidance and advice platform for financial services businesses, and its regulated digital financial adviser.

Kiddell said he has followed Wealth Wizards “for some time now”.

He said: “It’s a hugely innovative fintech which is making a genuine difference to the industry and is as passionate as I am about closing the advice gap that exists in the UK.”

From leading a hybrid advice business himself, Hampton said he’s experienced “first-hand” the opportunities technology can unlock.

“I want to bring those perspectives and learnings to further strengthen the industry, changing technology the team has already delivered,” he said.
