Zurich launches group income protection website

Zurich has launched a website to provide information on group income protection for advisers and employers.

The site gives customers information about how to make a claim and provides access to a dedicated case manager who can explain the provider’s paperless claims process.

Information is also available about Zurich’s in-house rehabilitation team of medical experts and its customer support offering, which includes early intervention, specialist treatment and graded return-to-work plans.

Resources for advisers include short videos about every aspect of the service, including the use of technology such as e-signatures to speed up claim times.

In addition to guidance on all aspects of rehabilitation, employers have access to regular webinars covering topics such as understanding presenteeism (working while sick), managing chronic pain and building a robust workforce.

Mike Essam, head of claims and rehabilitation services at Zurich Corporate Risk, said: "We know that early intervention can often aid employees’ recovery and a speedier return to work.

"We are confident that our new website is user-friendly and showcases key information and the full range of support we offer."

Simon Claxton, managing director of Reading-based Macbeth Financial Services, said sites such as Zurich’s could help raise the profile of group income protection.

He said: “Our clients are always trying to ensure they attract and hold on to the best talent, and this needs a little bit of innovation in what is an increasingly competitive market as far as recruitment is concerned.

"I think employees view various benefits as a valuable part of their remuneration package but very often group income protection is left out.

"I’ve struggled to understand why this cover is ignored so much by the SME market - it offers long-term financial security for employers and employees alike, and is far cheaper than the equivalent individual insurance.

"More access to information is great and will help us talk with our corporate clients on this subject."

Michael Aldridge, innovation director at London and Country, said: “A dedicated site is a great initiative and can only help raise the profile [of group income protection].

"Of course, the challenge will be driving traffic to the site; Zurich will be acutely aware of this, and I'm sure will have a well-planned strategy."
