RedArc to support Aviva Cancer Essentials customers

RedArc has been selected by Aviva to provide nurse-led support services for its employees and customers who have been diagnosed with cancer.

The RedArc nurse support service forms part of Aviva’s Cancer Essentials cover, which has been made available to all UK Aviva employees, as well as corporate and consumer customers who hold the Cancer Essentials product.

The RedArc support service is also available to corporate critical illness customers.

RedArc will provide a tailored service for each employee's individual needs with the same nurse throughout, for as long as the patient wishes.

Christine Husbands, managing director for RedArc, said: "This is a great example of an employer recognising its employees’ need for additional support at such a vulnerable time.

"While the NHS is excellent for cancer treatment and surgery, unfortunately, nurses and doctors have limited time to provide the softer side of treatment which helps patients and their families come to terms with their prognosis, and can help inform their future decisions.

"Having someone available on a regular basis who not only has the time but also the expert knowledge is hugely beneficial."

Ally Antell, Aviva UK health and protection product innovation lead, said: "We wanted to demonstrate our commitment to our people and customers by not only providing financial support, but also offering the emotional support they may need following a cancer diagnosis, during treatment and recovery."

Emma Thomson, life office relationship director at LifeSearch, said: "Red Arc offers a fantastic level of emotional and practical support to people and their families.

"This new initiative from Aviva will make a valuable difference to policyholders and their employees, and as an added benefit, should help Aviva retain both customers and staff."
