Exeter looks to broaden protection range

In April last year, the Exeter launched a responsive life insurance product, which catered to people with health conditions such as type two diabetes or a high body mass index, and in November 2017, the friendly society launched an impaired life product.

As FTAdviser reported, the insurer announced changes to the cover offered by its Managed Life plan to include people with health conditions that mean they would otherwise find it difficult to obtain life insurance.

At the time, Alan Knowles, managing director at Yorkshire-based Cura Financial Services, said: "Offering Managed Life cover to these people allows them to get vital protection from a respected insurer."

Dan Sharpe, managing director of The Insurance Surgery, added: "It is good to have the confirmation that Managed Life will be extended to include the impaired market.

"It is important that life insurance is available for those who need it most, and not being able to get cover shouldn’t be an extra worry for those managing an illness."
