L&G launches broker platform for group protection

Legal & General has launched a digital broker platform enabling the online management of group income protection and life assurance policies.

The platform is targeted at brokers looking to insure groups of 10 to 250 employees and provides instant comparison quotes, without requiring customer data to be re-entered.

A Legal & General spokesperson said the platform aims to provide greater efficiency by providing a quote, application and renewal services on one system.

Colin Fitzgerald, distribution director at Legal & General group protection, said the platform has been developed to reflect broker feedback.

He said: "Ease of doing business is central to Legal & General’s ongoing service enhancements and the digital broker platform is no exception - we have invested in our digital offering to make the process of applying for group protection an easier, more streamlined experience.

"We strongly believe that innovative technology has a significant role to play in the group protection market driving efficiencies of administration, time and cost for brokers to manage their customers’ group life and group income protection policies."

Earlier today rival provider Zurich announced it has overhauled its insurance service proposition and created a life protection platform, replacing five legacy systems with a single, streamlined one.

Alongside this, Zurich has also created products to sit on the platform - income protection and multi-fracture cover - as well as making improvements to its life and critical illness policies.
