Zurich has launched a dedicated service for its deaf and hard of hearing customers, designed to improve communication with the insurer via a video interpreter.
The insurer has partnered with the British Sign Language (BSL) online interpreting service SignLive, providing an interpreter to act on behalf of the customer in liaising with Zurich and sharing feedback.
The service is free and can be accessed on any mobile device by downloading the app, with customers first required to register with SignLive and complete online security and video quality checks before accessing an interpreter.
The service can also be accessed by installing the SignLive system on a computer desktop without having to download additional software.
A Zurich spokesperson said the insurer was the first to offer the SignLive service to customers.
