British Friendly adds more mutual benefits

Income protection provider British Friendly has added to its discretionary mutual benefits programme.

Through new partnerships with Hotelogical and LifeWorks, British Friendly has boosted the rewards available in mutual benefits with new discounts for members when booking hotels worldwide as well as discounts on a wide range of brands including Odeon cinemas, Zizzi, Halfords and Bodyshop.

Hotelogical provides discounted access to more than 400,000 hotels worldwide and will give British Friendly members up to 75 per cent off hotel bookings.

LifeWorks provides a lifestyle and wellbeing app that will give members assessments and tips on health, wellbeing and lifestyle as well as high street discounts which can be used instore and online.

It complements the current Square Health app that gives members access to healthcare services such as virtual GP consultations, physiotherapy, counselling, a second opinion service and Health MOTs, all at no extra cost.

During 2018 British Friendly launched a number of discretionary initiatives for new and existing members to boost the appeal of income protection and help advisers when recommending this cover to their clients.

This included the launch of their immediate support payment, recovery support benefit and terminal illness benefit as well as several new mutual benefits including health MOTs, powers of attorney, discounted travel insurance and discounted car leasing.

Damian O'Connor, managing director of Roxburgh Financial Management, said: "British Friendly's mutual benefits provides a comprehensive income protection proposition and an innovative way to keep clients engaged with their cover.

"It is also positive that these enhancements are offered to existing customers too as this is not standard in the market. British Friendly is helping to make income protection more attractive to consumers."
