Lifesearch posts profit growth

Lifesearch has reported a 2 per cent increase in profits during 2018 as a result of investments in its technology and employees.

The protection advice firm posted pre-tax profits of £1.02m in the year to August 31, 2018.

Lifesearch’s turnover for the period increased 5.7 per cent to almost £34m.

Tom Baigrie, founder and chief executive of LifeSearch, said: "We are already seeing the results of our spending on technology, enhancing our digital capabilities, and strengthening our senior leadership team, but it is our continued investment in our people that is reinforcing our solid foundations and enabling us to continue our positive trajectory ensuring we can keep protecting more and more families and businesses.

"We take great pride in our strongest asset as a business: our values and culture as reflected in what our now 500 strong team do for our customers.

"We are the protection partner of choice for the country's leading brands in our space and the trusted adviser for the more than 2400 people, families and business we protect each week."

LifeSearch turned to profit in 2017 after a restructure of the business in 2016.

LifeSearch Holdings, as the parent company of LifeSearch Limited and LifeSearch Partners Limited, was created after financial services firm Baigrie Davies was sold to Standard Life's financial planning arm 1825 in April 2016 for £400m.

Lifesearch has also been named as the third best company in Britain in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list presented last night (February 21).

Mr Baigrie added: "I am delighted with our performance in what is at last a growing market for protection. We have achieved continued growth while investing heavily and being recognised as a truly outstanding place to work."

Alan Lakey, director at CIExpert, said: "Lifesearch goes from strength to strength, a real success story. It shows how offering an excellent service and specialising in protection pays off.

"Tom Baigrie is the driving force and he has an excellent team who fully support him, many of whom have been there from the outset, which tells its own story."
