Protection Guru launches provider Q&A portal

Information service Protection Guru has launched a portal for advisers looking to access information on insurers' responses to the coronavirus pandemic.

Advisers can search the microsite for information on topics such as benefits reductions, cancelled policies, and career breaks, with details on individual insurers' responses.

Ian McKenna, director at FTRC which provides the service, said it had been developed with feedback from advisers on the information they wanted most.

He added: “Having easy-to-search access to this information will help advisers to keep policies in force, which is especially important during the Covid-19 crisis.”

Emma Walker, chief marketing officer at LifeSearch, said: “While the situation with Covid-19 remains so uncertain and fast-moving, resources like this are a great help for advisers to understand the latest changes put in place by providers.

“It’s vital that advisers have as much information as possible so they can offer the best support and guidance to both new and existing clients to help more people get and stay covered.”

Damian O’Connor, managing director at Roxburgh Financial Management said there had been a large number of new initiatives by insurers over the past few weeks “to help keep the market open”.

He added: “For advisers, the work they have done has been important in order to keep applications moving and to keep existing policies on the books. Overall, the net effect has been positive and any resources that help to clarify and compare these initiatives is likely to be useful.”

Protection Guru is an independent protection information and education hub for advisers. It provides access to analysis on protection products and services available in the market.
