Aviva switches provider for digital GP services

Aviva has updated its GP app after appointing technology business Square Health as provider of its digital services.

The updated Aviva Digital GP app provides policyholders access to video consultations with private GPs 24 hours a day, as well as repeat NHS prescriptions.

Policyholders can obtain referrals for further private specialist care through the app, as well as view advice and consultation history.

Members can also register dependents under the age of 16 and book GP consultations on their behalf.

Steve Bridger, managing director of UK health at Aviva, said: “We have been informing customers and their intermediaries that the Aviva Digital GP app that we offer on some of our policies as an added-value service is now provided by Square Health, following a supplier review.

“We are confident the new service will enable us to continue to provide high quality services, whilst meeting our customers’ evolving digital healthcare needs.

“The updated app from Square Health includes several enhancements, including longer video consultations with GPs, video consultation availability 24 hours a day and 7 days a week and wider geographical coverage to include the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Mr Bridger added: “The Aviva Digital GP app is available to more than 800,000 customers with Aviva private medical insurance and on some corporate pension and protection policies”.

According to the technology provider, Square Health delivers around 1,000 digital GP consultations a day, with services available to over five million customers in the UK. It currently works with more than 800 corporate clients.
