Independent information hub Protection Guru has launched a claims information resource to support advisers.

Its claims hub brings together data from 16 insurance companies to provide a single destination for claims-related information.

According to Protection Guru, the resource will help advisers have more informed conversations with clients and handle some of the most common objections from clients relating to insurers not paying out.

The claims hub includes claims statistics dating back to 2012 for life, critical illness (CI) and income protection (IP), information on insurers’ claims processes and case studies from different insurers on claims for IP, CI and added value benefit services.

Adam Higgs, head of research at Protection Guru, said: “We hope that by providing details of claims statistics, processes and stories, advisers will be able to have better and more informed conversations with their clients, find it easier to dispel any misconceptions and ultimately increase consumer confidence.”

Paul Shearman, mortgage, protection and GI proposition director at Openwork, commented: “As insiders we know the protection industry does a great job of paying claims, and the annual provider statistics underline that, but convincing a sceptical public is the perennial challenge for the protection adviser.”

Shearman added: “I’m sure that the knowledge and information [the hub] provides will help every adviser in their protection conversations and can only lead to more sales and more protected customers.”
