FCA appoints head of Brexit policy

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has promoted Nausicaa Delfas to a new role which involves leading the regulator's response to the UK's exit from the European Union.

Ms Delfas was previously acting chief operating officer for the regulator, but will now take up the role of executive director for international.

As well as leading on "the delivery of the FCA's response throughout the process of withdrawal from the European Union, providing technical support to HM government, and continuing to work closely with EU27, international regulators and the financial services industry, to ensure a smooth transition", she will also be responsible for the City watchdog's work with regulators around the world.

Ms Delfas will report directly to Andrew Bailey, chief executive of the FCA, and will be part of the executive committee of the organisation.

Ms Delfas is a lawyer by training and has worked for the FCA since 2000.

Mr Bailey said: "I am delighted to appoint Nausicaa as executive director of international.

"This is a new and vital role for the FCA, reinforcing our focus on the global regulatory agenda, and importance of international co-operation.

"It is also critical for our work throughout the process of EU withdrawal.

"I would also like to welcome back Georgina Philippou to her role as chief operating officer after a period of extended leave."
