7IM Paraplanner roadshows offer CPD

Seven Investment Management has announced a series of CPD accredited events for paraplanners in the last quarter of 2016 and into 2017.

The road shows, which will be held in partnership with The Paraplanners, will provide insight on investment markets and feature research from the fund house on important factors affecting retirement planning.

Justin Urquhart Stewart, head of corporate development and co-founder of 7IM, said: “Paraplanners provide a vital role in advisory firms, but because of their limited interaction with end clients, many even within the industry are not aware of the important role they play.

“Our programme is not just aimed at improving the technical skills and wider industry knowledge of the paraplanners we support. It also helps them improve their understanding of the needs of actual investors.”

The first event took place at 7IM and the London Metal Exchange's offices. The next roadshow is set to take place on 27 October in Manchester and will be run in conjunction with Axa and Liberty Sipp.

The final event of 2016 is scheduled for 15 November in London. In 2017, the firm aims to host up to seven events across the country.

Richard Allum, founder and managing director of The Paraplanners, said: “Paraplanning and paraplanners have never had such a high profile and demand for high quality practitioners is outstripping supply. At the same time, paraplanners themselves have a strong desire to improve standards because they want to and not because they have to.”

Robert Little, director at North Yorkshire-based Bob Little & Co, said: “We have people who fulfil the traditional function of a paraplanner, but we do not call them paraplanners per se. They have excellent technical knowledge and add value to the company. I’ve never sent any of them to a roadshow, but this sounds interesting.”
