After a weekly team meeting to make sure we all know what is happening in the week ahead, I begin with admin following a busy end to the previous week, to ensure the team can follow up with the actions required.
The rest of the day is spent in meetings; first with one of my advisers followed by a planning meeting with our partner in our invest club and arranging the next meeting, then finishing up with meeting a representative from a large accountancy firm to agree how we are going to progress our relationship.
Following an early breakfast meeting with one of our private banking partners I have a scheduled review call with one of my clients in Aberdeen via Skype. We try to meet face-to-face when we can, but Skype is a great way to keep in touch in between.
Before lunch I have a meeting with a sports events company to carry out a debrief following an event we held for the 6 Nations Rugby game between Scotland and Ireland at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Edinburgh. The consensus was that it went very well, with clients and contacts alike having a great day – helped by the result.
I have calls with our creative agency regarding our rebrand project and a call with our customer relationship management software provider, looking at the next release. These take up the rest of the afternoon.
Another breakfast, this time with one of our large business clients (I managed to resist a cooked breakfast this time). The meeting is to discuss what we are going to look at for him over the coming year, with a lot of focus on gearing up for his exit over the next few years, potentially looking at some of our other clients that may be interested in his business.
Again, another day full of meetings including one with another accountancy firm we may work with, a management meeting, lunch with a potential new client, a meeting with a representative from platform-provider Nucleus and a late afternoon call with a large client as one of our regular touchpoints.
Thursday was a bit quieter, giving me the opportunity to catch up on things – including this diary.
I managed morning calls with two people following the Rugby event, both of whom have the potential to be great clients.
After a meeting with my business support analyst about a couple of projects we are working on, I nipped off to the gym for a half hour on the assault bikes. Once back in the office, I caught up on some strategic planning that I have been working on with my business coach.
The best day of the week. First thing, I had a really important task to complete – buying tickets for Goldfrapp at BBC 6 Music Live in Glasgow.
I then had a really interesting meeting with a representative from a business looking to pitch to our investment club. It has developed a website/app for promoting personal trainers, fitness and healthy food offers. I will need to spend more time looking at the figures before I take this any further.
