Tenet's regulatory director exits

Tenet’s group regulatory director will be leaving the network to take a similar position at JLT.

Mike O’Brien will be moving to the employee benefits company for personal reasons as he wished to work closer to home and said the decision to leave Tenet was “amicable”.

He said: “I am staying on until my replacement is found, whether that is internal or external.

“It (his new role at JLT) is very similar to the role I am currently but broader and wider.

“I think you need a new challenge at some point.”

Mr O’Brien joined Tenet in December 2009 and had planned to stay for six months as the network’s Retail Distribution Review director.

Last year Mr O’Brien became Tenet’s group regulatory director after Gill Davidson left to join Intrinsic and as part of a shake-up of management at the network.

In November Tenet confirmed changes to the board at Tenet Limited and Tenet Group Limited levels plus the changing of the guard in terms of who is responsible for ensuring the Leeds-based firm’s advisers are complaint.

Three long-serving members of the team joined the Tenet Limited board as part of the shake-up: head of business systems, Martin Gartside becomes IT director; head of relationship management Steve Jones now adviser relationship director; and head of compliance Mark Thomas has been named as compliance delivery director.

Before joining Tenet, Mr O'Brien had been chief operating officer at Cielo Capital Management and Old Mutual Financial Network.

Before that Mr O'Brien was senior project manager at NatWest Life.

Martin Greenwood, chief executive of Tenet, said: “I would like to thank Mike for his very positive contribution to Tenet over the past seven and a half years and wish him every success for the future.

“Looking forwards, in November last year, we made some important changes and three long-serving members of the team joined the Tenet Limited board.

“This strengthened the depth of knowledge and experience Tenet has within its executive team, with Martin Gartside named as IT director, Steve Jones confirmed as adviser relationship director and Mark Thomas taking the role of compliance delivery director, so we are well positioned for the future.”
