Sanlam makes hires to grow wealth division

Sanlam UK has appointed a team of people to grow its wealth division.

Charlie Parker, Paula Eddery and Katrina Usher have been hired to help deliver “even better client outcomes”, Sanlam has said.

John White, chief executive of Sanlam Wealth, said: “I am focussed on delivering the best outcomes to our growing client base and bringing the highest quality individuals into our wealth division to broaden our reach and appeal to allow us to meet the exacting targets that we have in the business.

“Charlie, Paula and Katrina are huge additions to my leadership team and I look forward to working with them to meet our ambitions.”

Mr Parker will join in November, and will work with Mr White to help grow the business, with a focus on the wealth division, in a bid to expand its global connections and new client types.

Meanwhile Ms Eddery will serve as portfolio manager in the London team, and the regional manager of Sanlam’s south eastern offices.

Ms Usher has joined the financial planning team as a regional manager in the north of England to build on its client base there.

Sanlam UK has been through an extensive re-structuring and re-positioning since Jonathan Polin became chief executive at the end of 2015.

The business has been re-organised into a vertically integrated model - one which owns all of the value chain from selling products to advice. Non-core business units have been closed down.

A new client investment proposition is being rolled out and Sanlam has launched a partnership programme, a new initiative to give “culturally aligned” financial planning firms the chance to use some of Sanlam’s proposition and processes to help them grow.

These firms could then become part of Sanlam through a buy-out at a later stage.

Mr Polis said: “These appointments come at an exciting time for the group as we have just completed our strongest quarter with our financial planning business writing the highest ever new business.

“We are developing innovative solutions and adopting new technologies to enhance our existing business and ready our partnership programme to be relevant and attractive to quality advisers.”
