Tilney hires to expand offices

Tilney has recruited a number of financial advisers with a history at HSBC.

Lee Harris has joined the company’s Exeter office from HSBC, where he was a premier relationship manager for nine years.

He followed Darren Steadman, who joined Tilney’s Bristol office at the end of last month from HSBC.

Craig de Jong has also joined Tilney’s Guildford office from Santander, but before that he was a premier client manager for HSBC.

Rob Chandler, regional head of financial planning at Tilney, says: “Demand for financial advice is currently higher than it has ever been before.

“This is important and we are committed to growing our financial planning offering in order to provide the trusted relationships and holistic advice our clients require.”

Tilney has said it is taking a “two expert” approach to its offices, with clients supported by a financial planner and an investment manager.

The 360-strong financial adviser business, known as Tilney Bestinvest until earlier this year, bought Towry in April last year, at a cost of £600m, backed by finance from Tilney's majority private equity shareholder, Permira.
