SimplyBiz gives update on investment system

Simplybiz's new investment system, Centra, has attracted 1,500 users since it launched in March.

The system is free for SimplyBiz members and offers financial planning tools, product research, suitability reports and a centralised investment process.

Dan Russell, managing director of SimplyBiz Investment Services and chairman of the investment committee, said: "Centra was built based on feedback from members of The SimplyBiz Group, so we knew it would be popular with the firms who use our services, however, I’m delighted by the speed and enthusiasm with which it has been embraced by advisers.

"We’re running regular workshops and online training to ensure that all 1,500 users so far know how to get the most from the system, and we’re hearing from lots of members that Centra has already had a significant and positive impact on the way in which they’re conducting investment business."

Advisers are able to use SimplyBiz's central investment proposition or plug their own into it if they wish. SimplyBiz created the service with Defaqto and Intelliflo, with some of Centra's component parts developed by Oxford Risk, Finametrica, Morningstar and Moody's

Although it is a single system with one log-in, SimplyBiz members will still be able to access each of its components separately if they do not wish to use the whole thing.

SimplyBiz also announced that Chris Fleming, Square Mile’s investment services director, has joined the SimplyBiz Investment Services investment committee, which has oversight of the Centra system.

The support services provider floated on the London Stock Exchange last month, which gave the company a valuation of £130m.
