Ethical investing awards launched for advisers

Social impact specialist Worthstone has launched a series of awards to recognise the use of ethical investments by financial advisers.

The firm, which provides tools and resources to advisers interested in helping their clients invest ethically, will hold the awards at its Social Investment Academy event on Thursday 8 November.

There will be an award for the individual adviser who has embraced social impact investing with their client offering, an award for firms and one for asset managers and discretionary fund managers.

The final award will be for the best impact product which has been launched in the 12 months to the end of July 2018.

Gavin Francis, founder and director of Worthstone, said: "The Impact Awards will celebrate best practice in the retail impact investment sector.

"We want to celebrate and acknowledge advisers, advisory firms, fund managers and discretionary fund managers who are leading the market in aligning retail investment strategies actively pursuing positive social and environmental impact alongside financial goals."

The report by the government's advisory group on social impact investing, published last year, found individual investors were often much more interested in ethical investing than their advisers.

It recommended educating financial advisers about ethical investing and launching "high profile awards" to stimulate and celebrate progress in this area.

Worthstone said it was launching the awards in response to this recommendation.

Advisers can enter the awards by sending a submission here by midnight on Sunday 30 September.

Worthstone has said the judging panel will be independent and drawn from experts in the impact and financial services sector.
