Quilter adviser school launches chartered course

Quilter has rebranded its Financial Adviser School and launched a level six chartered course.

Now branded as the Quilter Financial Adviser School, it will offer an advanced diploma in financial planning programme to any adviser wishing to take the qualification.

Darren Smith, head of Quilter Financial Adviser School, said: "Providing the market with additional avenues for progression is key to making sure more customers can benefit from a very high level of face to face financial advice.

"The new programme, which had our first cohort attend their induction last week, included advisers from firms who have used our level four training to bring new advisers into their businesses as well as one of our level four graduates."

Quilter recruited a level six trainer to the team in April to develop the programme and he will train the current cohort of students who started last week. The length of the level six programme will be approximately 19 months and it will be available to the whole of the market.

The Quilter Financial Adviser School also offers a training programme for the level four diploma in financial planning and, in July 2017, it added a standalone programme for individuals to obtain their certificate in mortgage advice.

The rebrand comes after the separation of Old Mutual's British wealth management arm from the rest of the group, which saw Quilter float on the London Stock Exchange with a market cap of £2.7bn.

Its advice business has already rebranded as Quilter Private Client Advisers while the Old Mutual Global Investors multi-asset business became Quilter Investors earlier this year.

Quilter bought the Financial Advice School from Sesame Bankhall Group in 2016 and operates it on a not-for-profit basis.
