Broker to rebrand after name clash with bank

Mortgage broker and distributor All Types of Mortgages (Atom) will rebrand in the new year, following an agreement with Atom Bank.

The broker will change its name to Impact Specialist Finance but its offering to the market will remain the same, including a wider range of lender products.

An All Types of Mortgages spokesperson said the broker had traded without confusion alongside Atom Bank over the past few years as it operates in different areas of the mortgage market, but added the rebrand had been "embraced" by the whole team.

Dale Jannels, managing director at All Types of Mortgages, said it was sad to lose the Atom name which had served the firm will over the last 27 years.

He said: "But change is good. We sat down and looked at all the things we do, which include insurances, mortgages, protection and creative technology, so the new name is right on the money.

"This is an exciting new era and having a fresh, dynamic, eye catching new brand in Impact, will be a great start to 2019."

Atom will remain a family run business, with founders Vic and Sheila Jannels now taking more of a "back seat" as their sons Dale and Neal seek to drive the business forward.

The broker has also become directly authorised through a partnership with SimplyBiz Mortgages.

Atom, which was previously authorised through The On-Line Partnership, said it wanted to become directly authorised to improve the level and effectiveness of the services it offered clients.

Mr Jannels said: "I’ve known Martin Reynolds, the chief executive of SimplyBiz Mortgages, for a number of years and have the upmost respect for the way in which he conducts business.

"Stories that I’d heard from other people in the industry in recent years suggested that this high level of professionalism and integrity are reflected throughout SimplyBiz Mortgages, and the whole SimplyBiz Group.

"The process of becoming directly authorised was very straightforward, and the SimplyBiz applications team were very knowledgeable and helpful.

"They made sure that they were happy with everything before the full application was submitted to the FCA. This saved us a lot of hassle and time and meant that the application period was very short."

SimplyBiz Mortgages is part of the SimplyBiz Group, which floated on the Aim earlier this year and provides compliance and business support services to more than 2,200 financial services firms and 6,000 individual advisers nationwide

Mr Reynolds said: "Dale has a huge wealth of knowledge about the industry, and therefore such high praise from him, and the rest of the team at Atom, is not received lightly.

"I’m delighted to be working more closely with Atom and I’m sure we’ll have a long and successful partnership going forward."
