Norwich financial planner gains chartered status

A Norwich and Ipswich-based financial planning firm has achieved Chartered status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

Founded in 2001, SG Wealth Management employs 37 staff and gained the status on December 18.

The firm also has a corporate services division which works specifically with businesses offering advice on workplace pensions, employee benefits and business protection.

Stephen Girling, managing director at SG Wealth Management, said: "Our Chartered title means a lot to us and there are very few other financial planning firms who carry this in our region.

"It was not easily achieved, and it takes commitment and continuous investment in customer service to maintain."

Mr Girling had completed a full management buyout of the company last year.

He added: "We intend to maintain our excellent standards, guarantee our overall commitment to our clients and continue to demonstrate the professionalism for which we are renowned."

Currently more than 23,000 individual members and more than 900 firms hold the status of Chartered professionals with the CII.

A SG Wealth Management spokesperson said: "To retain the title, we must ensure the advice, service and ongoing support they provide is of the highest quality.

"Advice must be based solely on clients' researched needs, and provided by someone competent to discuss products and services that meet clients' requirements."
