Stockport financial planner eyes growth

Stockport-based Prest Financial Planning has hired a paraplanner and practice and operations manager to support the firm’s growth.

Simon Baggott has been appointed as practice and operations manager, while David Kershaw joined as paraplanner.

With 14 years’ experience in financial services, Mr Baggott will manage business efficiency at Prest while Mr Kershaw will provide research and technical support to Prest’s financial advisers.

Mr Baggott previously worked as head of operations at Clarion Wealth Planning.

Graham Prest, chief executive of Prest Financial Planning, said: "As we continue to grow they [Simon and David] will both play key roles in delivering the fantastic administration and support that will be essential to the achievement of our full potential.

"Simon is already getting stuck into a range of operational issues and we expect this to pay real dividends for us in terms of efficient workflows and an even slicker client experience.

"David, meanwhile, is proving a real asset to our paraplanning department, delivering vital support and research that makes a real difference to our clients."

Prest Financial Planning manages client assets worth approximately £350m, after the family-owned firm, which was founded in 1961, added £43m in new client funds in 2018.

In addition to the two appointments, Prest has also promoted paraplanner Ashley Baker to the role of financial planner.

Financial planning support team member Zoe Cullen recently completed her diploma in financial planning, and will now move into a more technical role.
