Ex-Quilter director Porteous joins Charles Stanley

Wealth manager Charles Stanley has appointed former-Quilter director John Porteous as group head of distribution.

Mr Porteous left his role as retail client solutions director at Quilter earlier this year and was previously head of client proposition at Towry.

Starting in his new role at Charles Stanley today (March 4), Mr Porteous will be responsible for developing distribution strategy for services and products across the wealth management group.

He will also join the company's executive committee, reporting directly to Charles Stanley chief executive Paul Abberley.

Mr Abberley said: "John is a crucial hire for our business and he will help us broaden and deepen our client base and step up our distribution momentum in order to meet our strategic objectives.

"He has an innate understanding of our multi-channel, multi-service business and building high performance sales teams, as well as a long track record in meeting the needs of clients in an increasingly competitive marketplace."

Mr Porteous described Charles Stanley as being on a "journey of transformation" which he hoped to accelerate.

He said: "It is a name that is synonymous with client-centricity and innovation, as demonstrated by its strong levels of client satisfaction and the genuine personal service if offers across the full range of wealth management services, alongside its award winning digital offering.

"I’m looking forward to helping it reach new clients and serve its existing ones more comprehensively in a marketplace where value for money is becoming the key metric."
