Tilney sets up advice arm in Winchester

Wealth management group Tilney has set up a financial planning team to cover Winchester and the surrounding Hampshire area.

Tilney, which has £24bn in assets under management, already has an office in Micheldever, close to Winchester, but this only provided investment management services to private clients.

The firm has now expanded this office to include a group of financial planners, one of which is Steve McNamara who has joined from advice firm Chase De Vere after five years at the firm.

Mr McNamara has previously worked in the wealth management division of accountancy firm BDO and at investment and pension provider Old Mutual Wealth.

Also joining the team is Hollee Vivian who joined Tilney four years ago as financial adviser.

According to Tilney, the team will provide advice on pensions and retirement planning, inheritance and estate planning, tax efficiency, saving for children and education fees and protection.

Tilney hired Andy Grant as its head of financial planning in August 2018 tasked with growing the financial planning business, which at the time was made up of 208 financial planners in 30 offices around the UK.

At the end of last year, Tilney bought the UK wealth business of accountancy firm Moore Stephens for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction saw 11 Moore Stephens staff based in London transfer across to Tilney, of which five were advisers.
